According to the statistics of the National Police Agency, the number of pachinko halls decreased by 421 compared to the same month of the previous year to 9,639 as of the end of December 2019.
The total number of pachinko/pachislot/other gaming machines decreased by 2.5% year-on-year to 4,195,930 units as of the end of 2019.
The decrease in the number of machines was most significant in Gunma Prefecture, followed by Nara Prefecture and Yamaguchi Prefecture. The number of machines in Gunma Prefecture decreased by 6.1% year-on-year to 71,092 units.
On the other hand, the number of machines was maintained in Kagawa, Toyama, Tottori, Yamanashi, and Ishikawa prefectures.
The decrease rate was 2.8% in Tokyo Prefecture, 2.5% in Kanagawa Prefecture, 3.3% in Osaka Prefecture, 3.3% in Wakayama Prefecture, 3.5% in Nagasaki Prefecture.
