The number of gambling machines in Japan declined by 5.3 percent from the same month last year as of the end of August 2021
The number of on-business pachinko parlors that registered in the association was 7810 as of the end of August 2021, declined 606 from the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics of the All Japan Pachinko and Pachislot Parlors' Cooperative Association. Of the parlors registered with the Association, 165 were temporarily closed as of the end of August. The number of outsider parlors is estimated at about 800.
The number of gambling machines such as pachinko, pachislot, and others declined by 5.3 percent to 3,538,862 during the last 12 months.
It is said that the big reason for shrinking is that pachinko/pachislot players have been avoiding crowded places with the anxiety from COVID-19 infections. However, the market has been shrinking since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
